Distributed Generation from Oncor Electric Texas
Oncor Electric employs distributed generation, which is electricity generation that is “distributed around” the distribution system. Oncor’s distributed generation comes from solar energy, landfill gas, natural gas fueled micro-turbines, wind, and diesel fueled engines and is conducted on electrical generating facilities. These facilities are located on a customer’s premise and operate in parallel with the utility. Some examples of customers who make use of distributed generation from Oncor Energy are small power production facilities and backup power facilities.
Oncor Energy and Metering ServicesSmart Texas
The Smart Texas program from Oncor Energy serves as an education campaign that provides consumers with information about smart meter technology. This initiative is part of Oncor’s efforts to install smart meters throughout its service area. Smart meters measure a consumer’s level of energy usage with digital technology and can record the energy usage in 15 minute intervals. With the Smart Texas program, Oncor Energy aims to help customers understand their smart meter information.
